Entry Fragging in Valorant: The Most Misunderstood Role in Solo Queue

In solo queue, the entry fragger has a bad reputation: "the one who dies first". That reading misses the point of the role entirely — a good entry isn't trying to survive, they're trying to create a numbers advantage the rest of the team has to capitalize on within the next second.

What a good entry does before even peeking

The entry itself is just the last step. Before that: syncing timing with the team's utility (flash, smoke), knowing roughly how many enemies are likely on that site based on info already gathered, and telling the team the plan before moving — not after.

Trade discipline: the real indicator of a good entry

The number that matters isn't the entry's kill count, it's how fast their team trades their death. An entry who dies but whose death is immediately traded for a kill has won their team a round. An entry who dies in silence, with nobody ready to trade behind them, has just given up a player for free.

Agents and weapons that help this role without making it mandatory

Some agents (with flash or offensive initiation) make the role more comfortable, but any agent can entry if timing and info are good. It's not a kit question, it's a question of collective discipline around whoever's entering.

How to improve at this role in solo queue

Announce your plan before moving, even in solo queue with strangers: "entering in 3, be ready to trade". Most free entry deaths don't come from bad individual timing, they come from a team that simply wasn't told.
