League of Legends Coaching: How to Improve Faster Than Solo Queue

Past a certain rank, playing more stops moving the needle. Most players stuck in Gold or Platinum already have more than enough hours to be Diamond — what's missing isn't practice, it's outside feedback on the mistakes they can't see themselves.
What a coach sees that you don't
Watching your own replay, you relive the game remembering what you were thinking at the time — which makes you blind to your own blind spots. A coach watching from the outside can spot, in minutes, patterns you've repeated for dozens of games without noticing: a trade taken without tracking enemy summoners, wards placed too late to matter, a farming pattern that pulls you out of lane at the worst moment. These are rarely mechanical mistakes — most of the time they're decisions made with bad information or bad timing.
One focused session beats ten games on autopilot
The real value of a coaching session isn't the game itself — it's the debrief afterward. An hour spent understanding why one trade went wrong changes how you play the next ten. Ten games played without that feedback just reinforce the same reflexes, good or bad.
What to actually ask your coach for
- A precise breakdown of 2-3 key moments in the game, not a vague "play safer" comment
- A reminder of what to track live in-game (summoner timers, objectives, rotations), not just a verdict after the fact
- A simple, repeatable rule you can apply next game, not a one-off exception tied to that single match
